Aeries.Net - Aeries.Net App Settings

This document details all available settings that can be set in the AppSettings.config. This file is located in a Virtual Directory located off the Aeries.Net website in IIS. The physical directory should be located in some other location on the file system and NOT within the Aeries.Net directory.

You can manually create the AppSettings.config file by creating a New Text File and renaming it to AppSettings.config. To Edit AppSettings.config, Eagle Software recommends Notepad. Use the Right-Click Menu to Edit AppSettings.config using Notepad.

  • SystemType
    • Valid Values:
      • Admin
      • Parent
      • Teacher
    • This establishes when Aeries.Net is supposed to focus its feature set to a certain type of user. Using "Admin" will allow Aeries.Net Users and Admins to access Aeries.Net normally. Using "Parent" will redirect page requests to LoginParent.aspx. Using "Teacher" will do nothing except when combined with the "LimitToCurrentPortalType" setting (see below).
  • LimitToCurrentPortalType
    • Valid Values:
      • True
      • False
    • When combined with "SystemType" values of "Admin", "Parent", or "Teacher" a setting of "True" will restrict the current instance of Aeries.Net to only allow logins from the specified type. For "Parent", attempts to hit Login.aspx will redirect to LoginParent.aspx. For "Teacher", login attempts by non-teachers will be rejected. For "Admin", login attempts by non Aeries.Net admins or Aeries.Net users will be rejected.
  • DistrictName
    • This setting is used in conjunction with the "ProductKey" setting to enable access to Aeries Analytics features of Aeries.Net. The value entered into this setting should be given to you by Eagle Software personnel.
  • ProductKey
    • This setting is used in conjunction with the "DistrictName" setting to enable access to Aeries Analytics features of Aeries.Net. The value entered into this setting should be given to you by Eagle Software personnel.
  • External
    • Valid Values:
      • True
      • False
    • This setting can be used in conjunction with the Portal Option "Disable Attendance if Site is External." It will disable the taking of attendance for this instance of Aeries.Net when the value is set to "True".
  • LogSessionID
    • Valid Values:
      • True
      • False
    • When set to "True" all logins to Aeries.net will log the ASP.NET Session ID in the Aeries LOG table. This setting should only be used to debug ongoing issues and the information should be cleared out after debugging is complete. For installations using Proxy servers, if the Proxy Server creates a request header for "HTTP_X_REAL_IP", it will be used to log transactions instead of "REMOTE_ADDR".
  • VerboseLogging
    • Valid Values:
      • True
      • False
    • When set to "True" Aeries.net will create a LOG record every time a user "Gets" a student, whether by the navigation buttons, profile icons or attendance details icon. This should only be done to debug ongoing issues and the information should be cleared out after debugging is complete. The following SQL will view some of the logged records: Select Top 10 * From LOG WHERE OB = 'GET' Order by TID Desc.

  • EADMSDistrictCode
    • Valid Values:
      • The district's County-District code

(format: 1122222 where 11 is the county code and 22222 is the district code)

    • This setting allows for a County-District code override which will help districts with multiple districts in one database. Using this setting will make communication with EADMS consistent in spite of the changing LOC values.
  • SchoolCityDistrictCode
    • Valid Values:
      • The district's County-District-School code

(format: 11222223333333 where 11 is the county code and 22222 is the district code and 3333333 is the school code)

    • This setting allows for a County-District-School code override which will help districts with multiple districts in one database. Using this setting will make communication with SchoolCity consistent in spite of the changing LOC values.
  • Beta
    • Valid Values:
      • True
      • False
    • This setting, when set to "True" will enable pre-release features of the system. Do not use this setting unless you are working with Eagle Software development staff on beta, custom, or personalized development. Most features enabled by this setting are dependent on back-end database changes that must be made with very specialized SQL scripts.
